New scanners at BTR less invasive, more secure
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Baton Rouge Airport metal detectors are a thing of the past. That’s because BTR is one of 80 airports across the country using new scanners.
They use something called Advanced Imaging Technology. The devices don't show a real picture of you on a screen. They just pinpoint where there might be a problem on a standard outline of a body.
If there is an object of concern, then the TSA Officer will just pat that area down.
The TSA says the machines are better at finding things that aren't supposed to be on planes, and do a better job at protecting your privacy.
“I think it’s going to keep everything more safe than why not have more secure measures,” Morgan Maulden, a Baton Rouge Airport passenger, said.
The TSA says in other parts of the country the new scanners have already caught people trying to get things past security that aren't allowed.
