A man with a beard is a man to be feared – that is if you’re a competitor in the Just For Men® National Beard & Moustache Championship. The world’s largest facial hair competition, now in its fourth year, will invade New Orleans for two days this fall, Septembeard 6 and 7.

Not for the soft of skin, the national championships draw hundreds of “beardsmen” from around the world competing in one of eighteen categories, ranging from the delicate Dali moustache to the anything-goes full beard freestyle. For the first time, the competition will take place over two, follicle-filled days to enhance the competitor and audience experience.

The hair-raising events will kick-off on Friday, Sept. 6, with opening ceremonies, quarter-final judging and semi-final judging at the Sheraton New Orleans. Fifteen contestants in each category will move on to Saturday’s final judging at The House of Blues. Events on Saturday, Sept. 7, also include a parade through the French Quarter, awards presentations and the competition after party. The championships are open to all competitors, regardless of experience or club affiliation.

From handlebars to sideburn sculptures, “The Just For Men® National Beard and Moustache Championships are one of the most colorful, creative and lively events you will ever witness,” said Lay It Out Events Director Lee Perry. “What better location to celebrate this unique competition than the creative, spirited and downright fun city of New Orleans.”
