Motorcyclist dies after being ejected from bike

Houma, La — A 20-year-old Houma man was killed after he lost control of his motorcycle on LA 24 in Terrebonne Parish
On April 11 at around 6:00 p.m., a motorcycle, driven by Jarred Dupre was stopped on Clendenning Road at the intersection of LA 24 for a red traffic signal in Houma, LA. When the traffic signal turned green, Dupre made a left turn and began to accelerate at a high rate of speed.
Dupre lost control of the motorcycle and traveled off the roadway to the right. He traveled approximately 500 feet and struck a mail box where he was ejected from the motorcycle as it tumbled end over end.
Dupre, who was wearing a US D.O.T. helmet, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office.
Investigating Troopers report that speed and lack of riding knowledge may have been factors in the crash. Alcohol impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation.
