BATON ROUGE, LA — Mary Morlan "Mo" Isom, the goalkeeper for LSU’s women’s soccer team who tried out as placekicker for the LSU’s football team this past spring, will be speaking to student leaders at the Our Lady of the Lake College Annual Student Leadership Banquet, Friday, April 20, 2012 starting at 6:00 p.m. at Juban’s Restaurant. Mo Isom’s talk is entitled “Leadership On and Off the Field” and will describe how she has been able to grow as a leader despite the pain and challenges she has had to overcome during her life.
Mary Morlan (Mo for short) has excelled in many different arenas, not only holding school records in career wins (43), shutouts (30) and saves (235) during her soccer career, but also serving as LSU’s reigning homecoming queen. The path toward achieving this success has not been an easy one for her. She fought bulimia in high school. Her father, John Isom, committed suicide in January 2009. And she was involved in a violent traffic accident in November 2009 that left her with a broken neck, broken ribs, damaged lungs, a damaged liver and brain contusions.
Mo has just returned from appearing on the television show “Ellen” and was also featured on “Good Morning, America.” Me
