MLK's fraternity honors him at SU
BATON ROUGE (NBC33) — Dr. Martin Luther king was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, going back to his days at Morehouse College in Atlanta. His fraternity brothers held a march and candlelight vigil today, in his remembrance, at Southern University.
Members of the fraternity at Southern marched Monday, to that unmistakable voice, they marched in his honor.
As members of Alpha Phi Alpha, the next generation of King's brothers honored his legacy.
White, black, young and old gathered in front of Southern's student union.
The members of Alpha Phi Alpha said they keep Dr. King's legacy alive by mentoring high school students around Baton Rouge, trying to be a positive role model, for those who need it the most.
