Manship Theatre’s Mix Tape Lectures bring together multiple speakers to riff of hot topics and current events as they relate to upcoming performances and film screenings. Each speaker talks for 5-10 minutes. The result is a ‘mix tape’ of various perspectives on a common theme, followed by a Q&A with the audience.

October's event, which takes place on October 29 at 7:00 p.m., comes as Manship Theatre prepares to present a performance of "Fahrenheit 451," a play based on Ray Bradbury's iconic novel about a dystopian future American society where books are outlawed and "firemen" burn any house that contains them.

Sixty years after the book was written, Mix Tape looks at topics like censorship and the 24-hour media cycle, and how our world compares with the future Bradbury described in his novel. Moderated by 225 Editor Jeff Roedel, speakers will include Baton Rouge Area Foundation Executive Vice President John Spain, and East Baton Rouge Parish Libraries Asst. Library Director Mary Stein.

This event is free, but seating is limited. Call the Manship Theatre Ticket Desk to reserve your spot: 225-344-0334.
