St. Amant, La (NBC33) — Louisiana State Police Troop A began an investigation into a single vehicle crash near the Diversion Canal, which claimed the life of a driver not wearing his safety belt.

A 2002 Dodge pickup was traveling east on LA 22 when it entered a right-hand curve and ran off the roadway to the left. The pickup began to rotate clockwise and struck two trees with its left rear fender. It then began to rotate the opposite direction as it overturned. The pickup rolled several times before coming to rest on the driver’s side, partially submerged in a bayou.

Dustan Reine, 24, was not restrained when the crash occurred, was ejected and suffered fatal injuries. Troopers suspect impairment to have been a factor in the crash.
