Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne announces plans for Bicentennial Celebration

Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne kicks off the Bientennial party a little early by announcing the state's big plans for the anniversary.

Dardenne says the official celebration kicks off the weekend of April 28th with live bands, food, and art from all over the state.

Then, on April 30th the Louisiana Legislature will commemorate Louisiana's statehood.

On April 30, 1812, the United States admitted Louisiana as the 18th state into the union.
Dardenne says it's a time for louisianians to learn about their home and its culture.

"It's a great time for us to reflect on who we are, but also celebrate the things that make Louisiana unique, out many passions which is why our brand for louisiana is pick your passion," said Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne.
