From June 10-14, the LSU Rural Life Museum will hold its 13th annual “LSU Rural Life Museum Apprentice Program.” Children from grades 4-8 will become apprentices for the weeklong educational experience.

Skilled Louisiana artisans, along with the museum’s junior docents, will introduce the children to 19th-century traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, open hearth cooking, tintype photography and kite making, early textile processes, everyday domestic skills and much more.

Each day the campers will be able to participate, create and bring home what they have personally made. By the end of the week, smiles are guaranteed on all the young apprentices.

The Louisiana artisans and the LSU Rural Life Museum staff are looking forward to another successful Apprentice Program.
