Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The Purple and Gold can now be distinguished with another color - green. LSU is going green with new ecofriendly clamshells.
These ecofriendly clamshells are sold at the Bayou Bistreaux and On The Geaux in the Student Union.
The clamshells are basically reusable to-go food containers.
The shells can be bought by students for $5 and can be reused to help reduce waste.
The idea came from another university, and LSU officials see it becoming popular as times goes on.
"We haven't had a lot of reaction yet,” stated David Heidke with LSU Campus Dining. “We’re closing in on a hundred sales - a hundred containers - and were hoping this will continue to grow and become popular with students, faculty staff and administrators on campus."
