The Baton Rouge chapter of the American Red Cross is also joining in the effort to help those affected by the Colorado wildfires.

Red Cross volunteer Jonathan Hammett left Baton Rouge this morning for Colorado. He will help serve meals and get information to the displaced.

“So many Red Cross volunteers come down here to help us when we have hurricanes,” said Hammett. “It's really important that south Louisianians are able to help give back by going to help on disasters elsewhere."

Nancy Malone with the Baton Rouge Red Cross says more volunteers will head out of state tomorrow. This group will go to Florida help victims of what was Tropical Depression Debby.
