Long term lane closure in downtown BR

Long term lane closure in downtown BR
Friday, July 22, 2011 - 11:29am

Baton Rouge motorists are being alerted to the closure of the southbound lane of River Road from 300 feet north of Main Street to North Boulevard. Lane shifts along with intermittent lane closures will continue from now through the end of the year.

The lane closure is necessary as part of the Baton Rouge Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) Program; we are replacing sewer pipe that runs down River Road. Detour and warning signs, caution tape and barricades will be placed at the work site, and information on alternate routes will be shared with area businesses and downtown associations.

Motorists are urged to use alternate routes until construction is completed. For questions about the construction or for help planning your travel downtown, please contact the SSO Project Information Line at (225) 588-5678.

The Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) Control and Wastewater Facilities Program addresses the existing EPA Consent Decree while planning for the future sewer needs of East Baton Rouge Parish. When complete, the SSO Program will help the city-parish meet Clean Water Act requirements and ensure a higher quality of life for East Baton Rouge Parish residents.
