Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — In Baton Rouge Saturday, Saints fans react to Saints players being paid bounties to put players out of games.
According to ESPN, The New Orleans Saints have maintained a "bounty" system from 2009 to 2011.
ESPN.com says over twenty players and one assistant coach maintained a system that was funded primarily by players. This system rewarded tackles that caused injuries to opposing players,
resulting in those players being removed from a game.
Local fans of the black and gold in the Capitol City say it's football and injuries will happen, just not at the expense of sportsmanship.
"Personally I believe that if you're making a million dollars a year, you ought to be able to take a hit in the first place," said Saints fan, Travis Jones.
"Kinda disappointed, I thought they were running a little classier organization than that, but it is football, so I guess it's to be expected," said Saints fan, John Valure.
