The public is invited to attend the Livingston Parish Drinking Water Protection Program Committee Meeting, Tuesday, June 4, at 3 p.m. The meeting will be held at the city of Walker DPW Building, 13730 Ballpark Road, Walker.

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality Drinking Water Protection Program Team has established a committee of citizens to increase the public's awareness and participation in protecting their area's drinking water.

The Drinking Water Protection Program is a voluntary DEQ program designed to assist communities in protecting their drinking water sources. The campaign seeks to involve private citizens, community groups, water systems, local government officials, businesses and industry in the protection of the parish’s waters. Since clean water is essential for good health, DEQ’s Drinking Water Protection Team will share protection and conservation tips that residents can use in their homes and businesses.

The meeting will include a discussion of visits to potential sources of contamination, a presentation of Keep Livingston Beautiful presentation and a discussion of Household Hazardous Waste Day. Certified water operators will receive two CEUs for attending and the public is invited to attend and to join the committee.
