Police have closed the case on Sunday’s bizarre investigation at the Lafayette Regional Airport.

“There was no criminal intent and the parties involved apologized for any inconvenience the prank may have caused,” Cpl. Paul Mouton, Lafayette Police Department, said.

So what was the big joke?

The head of a pig was found on the hood of a vehicle parked at the airport. The car, which was registered to a rental company, was parked in the airport’s short term parking area. A deputy working at the airport, unsure what to make of it, called police to investigate.

“Upon further investigation, [we] discovered that it was a prank on the individual who was driving the car,” Cpl. Mouton noted.

So the moral of this story is that if you’re considering playing a prank on your buddy, it’s probably best to avoid the use of a decapitated animal in an airport parking lot.
