Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Things are looking up for the employees at Kleinpeter Dairy - employees are going to get paid more.
Back in October, the price of raw milk started going up, so all the employees at Kleinpeter took a 2.5 percent pay decrease to keep their customers from footing the bill on the rising costs.
Now, the price of raw milk is dropping and has been for three months.
On April 1, it dropped nine cents a gallon, which was so much that the employees’ salaries will go back up.
President Jeff Kleinpeter stated, “It feels good now to be able to spread the good news and say ‘Hey guys, we worked hard, we got these things accomplished. Let's not forget that we still have work to do, but we're able to breathe a little easier.’"
Employees say they're hopeful that this means the economy is turning around for the better.
