BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A massive statue of Jesus was stolen last week, but now it’s back in its rightful place.
“Nice surprise. Really, really happy to see it come back,” Shelly Roy, owner of the statue, said.
Roy never expected to see the 600 lb., Italian marble monument after it was stolen last week. However, it was recovered several days after it went missing near a dumpster located at a nightclub on Highland Road.
On Monday, Nov. 26, the statue was returned to its home at Roselawn Memorial Company. The $15,000 statue was initially placed at the business six decades ago.
