The lawyer for Jordan Jefferson, Lewis Unglesby, has filed a motion for a preliminary hearing.

According to the motion filed shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, Unglesby says every day this case continues it's putting more hardship on Jefferson and it continues to waste resources.

According to the court document, Unglesby says there's so little evidence in the case, so it shouldn't even go to court. He says the preliminary hearing will move the case forward and could get Jefferson back on the field sooner.

"Everyday Jordan Jefferson is missing a lifetime opportunity, for no fair reason, and they're not going to be able to give that back to him when they decide that there's no case here," Unglesby told NBC33 News.

Unglesby says his next step is to hear from police. He says he's waiting to hear from the Baton Rouge Police Department on statements they have from the night of the fight.
