UPDATE: The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office reports that the victim of the possible drowning is Jacques Pierre Demare, 21, of Folsom, La.

ORIGINAL: One person died today while tubing on the Amite River.

Officials with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office have confirmed to NBC33 News that they are investigating the possible drowning. They say it happened on the Upper Amite in the Watson area.

Witnesses at the scene tell us the victim was using the Tiki Tubing services, which is located in Denham Springs. They say it happened sometime between 11:00 a.m. and noon. They also inform us that family members of the victim have been notified and they are on the scene.

Officials tell us the body of the victim was recovered shortly before 2:00 p.m. They have not provided the name of the victim, who is a 21-year-old male.
