The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a possible sweepstakes scam.

Sheriff Louis Ackal would like to advise the residents of Iberia Parish of a possible sweepstakes scam reported to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were advised by the complainants that they were contacted by someone stating they had just won $3,000,000.00.

According to the victims, the caller then said that someone from the sweepstakes would arrive at their residence with a check for $3,000.00. The victims would then have to cash the check for the representative of the sweepstakes in order to receive the $3,000,000.00 they had supposedly won.

Sheriff Ackal would ask that if any resident from Iberia Parish receives a phone call of this nature to please contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office at (337) 369-3711.
