Baton Rouge, La — Over the next two to three weeks, motorists can expect lane/ramp closures and changes in the traffic configuration on I-10 between Siegen Lane and Highland Road as crews will begin shifting traffic to the new travel lanes as work on this section of I-10 nears completion.
The traffic configuration changes are scheduled to start with eastbound traffic, and motorists can expect the three eastbound lanes to gradually open over the next week.
Work will then begin on the westbound traffic configuration changes, which will be finished this month. Once this project is completed, travelers will benefit from a widened I-10 with six travel lanes, three in each direction.
The following is this week’s lane/ramp closure and traffic shift schedule, which is dependent on weather:
• Thursday, June 6: The eastbound right lane from Siegen Lane to Highland Road and the Highland Road off-ramp will be closed from 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. for barrier removal and lane striping.
• Friday, June 7: The westbound right lane from Highland Road to Siegen Lane and the Highland Road on-ramp will be closed from 9:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m. for striping and bridge deck grinding.
• Friday, June 7: The eastbound right lane from the Kansas City Southern (KCS) Bridge to the Highland Road off-ramp will be closed from 9:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m. for barrier removal.
• Saturday, June 8: I-10 eastbound will have left and right lane closures from Siegen Lane to Highland Road from 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m., and the Highland Road off-ramp will also be closed. These closures will allow crews to stripe and shift the travel lanes.
