HOUMA, LA (NBC33) — A pastor reportedly committed suicide after he hit a 7-year-old boy with his car and fled the scene.

Officials say Pastor Robert McGuire, 53, of Houma was driving near 224 Hellier Street when he struck the boy, who was riding a motor scooter, with his vehicle. He then fled the scene.

The boy was knocked unconscious, but survived and is expected to make a full recovery.

McGuire’s vehicle was located at his home and his wife let investigators inside. That’s where they found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The case remains under investigation.
