GRETNA, LA (WDSU) — A loose pig took a stroll through a Gretna neighborhood over the weekend, but the fate of the wandering swine was unclear.

Julian Maronge took the photo of a black pig and submitted it to WDSU. It was not clear whether the animal has been captured.

Witnesses described the critter as a feral hog -- a growing concern in the state -- but the animal bore the appearance of a potbellied pig. Loose swine have become a concern in Louisiana, where the legislature this year passed a measure allowing the trapping of feral hogs year-round without need for a permit.
