Construction is underway at the new Goodwood Library in Baton Rouge.

The 126,000 foot facility will be located behind the current main library on Goodwood. It will house even more books, audio visual materials and periodicals.

It will also have more than 120 computers, laptops and online library catalogs. It's a library the mayor-president says the parish will be proud of, "This takes us to the top of the list in regards to the quality of construction, in regards to what's in the library itself, but more than that anywhere we go in the United States we can proudly point to Baton Rouge and say we can compete with anyone."

The expected completion date for the library is Fall 2013. The library is expected to cost more than $35 million to build.
