The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank’s trucks have been rolling since shortly after Hurricane Isaac to provide emergency food assistance.

The food bank’s trucks delivered disaster kits, MRE’s, pop-top canned items and other emergency food items into the impacted areas in Ascension, Assumption, Livingston, and Tangipahoa.  These items were distributed by the Louisiana National Guard in Assumption Parish.

The food bank is quickly depleting our inventory and need help to be able to meet the increased need of those who have been flooded or do not have the financial strength to be able to replace food they lost as a result of Isaac’s visit.

They ask for your help as they continue to work side-by-side with the local government Emergency Management Agencies, the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, the EBR Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, and our nonprofit counterparts in the Louisiana and Capital Area Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster to bring immediate relief to those affected by Isaac.
