Gonzales man dies in single-vehicle crash, impairment suspected
FROST, LA (NBC33) — A 56-year-old man from Gonzales died last night in a single-vehicle crash. Troopers believe speed and alcohol were a factor.
The Louisiana State Police report that the incident occurred at roughly 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6. We’re told Harold G. Crawford was driving west on LA 42 when he failed to negotiate a curve. His vehicle left the road, hit a ditch, then struck a group of trees.
Crawford was airlifted to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Officials say Crawford was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and they believe he was speeding. They also believe he may have been under the influence of drugs. A sample of his blood has been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
