Gas prices continue to rise in Baton Rouge
Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — According to GasBuddy.com, the average gas price in Baton Rouge is $3.65, but it's as high as almost $4.00 a gallon at some gas stations in Central.
People I talked with say the high prices are putting a big strain on their wallets.
"It affects me greatly because I go to school three days a week, and i drive about an hour, you know it takes a dent in my budget every week as far as travel expenses go," said Patricia Brooks, a College Student.
"I'm not gonna be spending at the stores, I'm gonna go out to eat less, iIve got to have money for fuel, obviously its gonna take money out of your pocket that you could be putting back into the economy," said Kelly David.
Monday is the 9th straight day of gas prices going up in the capital city, and with no end in sight to the hikes some say they've had to center their lives around driving.
"You have to kind of make your schedule around how much you're gonna be driving, anything I can do to save at the pump," said Christy Tucker, a nurse.
Monday's average is up 25 cents from this time last year. Most of it coming in just the last month. Gas in the Capital City has risen an average of 18 cents.
"You just can't afford to put gas in your car, that much, at least I can't," Tucker said.
Tucker's sentiment is a feeling lots of drivers all over the capital city, and the country have as the pain in the pump, just keeps getting worse.
