Short notice for the closing of Galatoire’s Bistro here in Baton Rouge. Employees with the company were informed at a meeting just the other day the restaurant is closing indefinitely. Today, patrons looking to dine at the establishment were greeted with a simple sign saying that the business is closed and will be moving.

In an official press release sent out by the New Orleans-based company, they state that the reason for the closure is that the establishment is moving to another location, somewhere near the center of the city. Sources tell NBC33 News that the hope is to move near the Southdowns area along Perkins Road near Acadian. Other options, however, are being considered as well.

NBC33 News also learned lagging sales is yet another factor in the decision to move locations. Galatoire’s set up the location off Perkins Road in November 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.

For now, Galatoire’s is honoring all private parties that were booked in advance.
