Four people died after a small plane crash just south of Monroe this afternoon.

Three of the passengers from Louisiana, and the pilot from Arkansas were on their way to Monroe from Beaumont, TX.

A witness said she saw the small plane crash into the woods near her house.

"I was standing outside there at the front door and I saw it coming down,” Jacqulyn Pringle recalled. “I knew it was going to fall. It looked like it was going to fall. And I watched it as it just went down.

“It made a sound like a jack diving. It went yeeeeee, boom, and the smoke blew up."

State and local police, fire departments and Wildlife and Fisheries all worked for over an hour to put out the flames.

FAA and NTSB officials are continuing their investigation.
