BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — An accident on Interstate 10 at Perkins Road blocked traffic for almost two hours this morning. One vehicle was knocked on it’s side by the center divide rail, but fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
The Baton Rouge Police Department responded to the accident around 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Four vehicles were involved in the crash located in the westbound lane.
The first vehicle was in the center lane when traffic began to slow down and then stop. The driver hit his brakes to stop, but lost control of the car and went into the left lane. That’s when the car hit a truck that was pulling a trailer, knocking it into the center divider guardrail.
The first driver was knocked back into the center lane, where another SUV was clipped, causing the first driver to flip over the vehicle and strike the fourth car involved.
The first and second vehicle had to be towed away, but no one was injured. The third and fourth involved sustained minor damage and were able to drive off.
The driver who caused the accident, William Johnson, 30, was issued a citation for Careless Operation.
