Former Saint at Calvin's Bocage Market
BATON ROUGE, La.(NBC33) — A former Saint turned BBQ sauce entrepreneur in Baton Rouge today.
Joe Horn, a star wide receiver with Saints, stopped at Calvin's Bocage Market to promote his line of BBQ sauce. It's called number 87, since that's the number he wore while with the black and gold.
Horn's been out of the league since 2007, but he still likes to talk football. He shared his thoughts on whether or not Drew Brees will get his contract worked out. And he had some strong comments about the suspensions against Saints head coach Sean Payton and players for a bounty program.
"I didn't think they got a fair shake. I think the commissioner should have investigated every football team instead of just the Saints for 3 years. I think he opened a pandora's box. This whole state loves him to death and he's brought a Super Bowl here that's obvious. What he does on and off the field for the charities. What he does for the people Drew Brees has to retire a Saint so his contract without a doubt..So if the owner tells you the deal will get done, Drew Brees will get done," said Horn.
"Hollywood" set the Saints career mark in receiving touchdowns WITH 50. HE MADE the Pro Bowl four times in five seasons, and compiled the second most receptions 523 in Saints history.
