BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — An interim chief has been named, but former chief Dewayne White hasn’t given up on getting his job back.

White’s lawyer, Jill Craft, filed an appeal today with the State Civil Service Board. She hopes the board will agree that White's firing was done illegally.

Craft says she's still trying to get the former chief re-instated. She says an appeal hearing will most likely take place in April.
