It's been 50 years of Big Macs, fries, and apple pies for McDonald's in Baton Rouge.

Hundreds gathered at the first McDonald's location the Capitol City - it was built back in 1963 – to celebrate the location’s half-century anniversary.

There was lots of dancing and laughter from former employees and loyal customers.

Owner Charles Valluzzo shared some special memories with NBC33.

"I think it was the first hurricane we went through - in 1964. All the power went out, and we started selling hamburgers. We ran out of patties, and we had nothing but cheese, so we sold grilled cheese sandwiches until we ran out of cheese,” stated Valluzzo. “I will never forget that day."

And, from old memories to new ones, they ended their celebration by doing the “Harlem Shake.”
