Fallen structure crushes employee at industrial facility in Houma

A 52-year-old man died in an industrial accident on Monday, June 4 after a structure collapsed on top of him.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the accident happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. at Oil States located on Mulberry Road in Houma. When deputies arrived on scene the victim, Timothy James Morvant of Houma, was being treated by Acadian Ambulance.

Deputies learned that Morvant was a long time employee of the facility and was working in the Fabrication Shop. We’re told that he was tacking a bearing block on a winch wall when the accident happened. The structure collapsed on top of him and a crane had to be used to remove the fallen structure off of him.

Morvant was taken to the Terrebonne General Medical Center. He was later transported to a hospital in Baton Rouge. He died at roughly 7:30 p.m.
