ExxonMobil: Expect sporadic flaring over the next 24 hours
BATON ROUGE, LA — The ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Chemical Plant on Scenic Hwy. is expecting some sporadic flaring over the next 24 hours as workers resolve an equipment malfunction. Employees will work to minimize the flaring as much as possible.
Flaring is a safe, environmentally approved measure to safely burn virtually all of the excess hydrocarbons that cannot be processed during a unit shutdown, slowdown or restart. Flares are safety devices and are necessary to ensure the safety of the equipment on which personnel work.
There is no expected offsite impacts to the surrounding community, and we apologize for any inconvenience that the flaring may cause.
