BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — ExxonMobil operates one of the state’s largest chemical plants with a staff of over 5,000.
Because they are surrounded daily by tons of chemicals and oil, accidents can happen, so they need to be ready for anything.
When it comes to safety, the company has actually been nationally recognized for their performance.
Hundreds of people within the plant are skilled in all areas of emergency response, such as firefighting and Hazmat use.
They hold drills once a month to ensure they are prepared.
Alongside those employed by ExxonMobil are those other responders who still play a huge role during an emergency, such as local and state law enforcement and state regulatory officials.
They also have an on-site fire station with emergency response equipment any small city would have.
