Scotlandville, La (NBC33) — Exxon- Mobil gave $10,000 to the Food Bank to help Scotlandville Elementary.
The money goes toward the Backpack Program, which helps feeds children on weekends and holidays when school isn't in session.
Employees filled backpacks for the program today.
"It’s difficult to really do well at school, learn, and ultimately succeed if they are living hungry every day," stated Monica Mainland with Exxon-Mobil.
According to a Feeding America study, more than 20 percent of children in the United States live in poverty.
