Texas Brine Company, LLC, began a residential air monitoring program within the local communities of Bayou Corne on Wednesday, August 22. The affected neighborhoods include the Sportsman Paradise Subdivision and those individual residences located within a 5-mile radius of the Texas Brine site. The company has contracted with Sage Environmental Services to perform this work.

Monitoring at each individual residence is being conducted using a hand-held air monitoring device. It will be performed along publicly accessible roads in front of each resident’s home and will not require access to private property. Residential air monitoring will be conducted twice a week until further notice.

Texas Brine is voluntarily conducting this enhanced monitoring program as a supplement to the program instituted by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. It is a new component of the overall air monitoring program the company already has in place at its site and is designed to further ensure the safety of Bayou Corne residents.
