East Baton Rouge receives $1 million federal grant to expand BRAVE project

BATON ROUGE, LA — Mayor-President Melvin "Kip" Holden announced today that the city-parish has been awarded a $1 million federal grant for the Baton Rouge Area Violence Elimination (BRAVE) Project.
The grant will implement group violence reduction strategies over a three-year period that will expand the BRAVE effort from 70805 zip code neighborhoods to neighborhoods in the 70802 area
There will be a press conference to discuss details of the grant at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness.
Those on hand will include Mayor Holden, District Attorney Hillar Moore, East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, City Police Chief Carl Dabadie and other partners involved in the BRAVE project.
