East Baton Rouge, LA — The East Baton Rouge Libabry's Blu-ray collection has hit the Main Library.
The Blu-ray collection includes approximately 950 titles, spanning a wide range of interests, with every genre represented.
Blu-ray is a video format that debuted a few years ago and is replacing the DVD as the primary format for physical video discs. The format was developed to view content in high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data.
Traditional DVDs will operate in a Blu-ray player, so you can continue to enjoy our huge DVD collection with your Blu-ray player. Blu-rays will also play in a PlayStation 3 console. Unfortunately, Blu-ray discs will not function in a DVD player.
For now, patrons may check out up to two Blu-ray discs at a time with a Library Card. Just as we do for DVDs and videos, checkout periods are 7 days and overdue fines are $1 per day.
Patrons may place up to 10 holds/reserves on Blu-ray discs. Just as with other library formats, items that are not on hold may be renewed in person, on the phone or online.
