Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The EBR Metro Council has voted to delay a discussion on electing a new chief for the Baton Rouge Police Department.
Councilwoman C Denise Marcelle brought up the issue. She believes Baton Rouge residents should vote for the next chief instead of having the position appointed by the mayor.
However, she was afraid people didn't know the debate was happening tonight, so she asked to wait two more weeks.
Former BRPD chief Dewayne White was fired last week, and an interim chief is in place for the next 90 days.
