Deputy injured in St. John ‘ambush’ released from the hospital after four months

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, LA (NBC33) — A deputy injured in a shooting that killed two and injured another is finally being released from the hospital today.
The St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office reports that Deputy Jason Triche is being released Monday, Nov. 26. Triche was shot on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 during an incident that officials called an “ambush.” Seven people were arrested.
Deputies Jason Triche and Michael Boyington were both injured in the incident that took place on River Road near Hwy. 3217.
Today, the Sheriff’s Office is asking the community to show support for the injured deputy.
“Help line the streets at 1:45 p.m. today on Belle Terre from I-10 to US 61, and on US 61 from Belle Terre to Montz to help welcome Jason home,” a post reads on the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
Deputies Brandon Nielsen and Jeremy Triche both died at the scene.
