Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards proudly reports that Deputy Albert Sharp and TPSO K9 Titan have been awarded with the United States Police Canine Association’s National Case of the fourth quarter of 2011.

Canine handlers from across the country submit cases to the USPCA for review and are voted on by the USPCA National Board. Deputy Sharp and K9 Titan’s case involving 36 year Kahunda Magee was chose from hundreds of submissions as the top case in the nation for the 4th quarter of 2011.

This duo was recognized for their actions on October 19, 2011, during the 14 day man hunt for Kahunda Magee in which Magee shot K9 titan during an attempted apprehension. K9 Titan has since fully recovered and he and Deputy Sharp are back working the streets of Tangipahoa Parish full time.

This award also makes Deputy Sharp and Titan eligible for the overall top national case of the year for 2011.

“I am proud of Deputy Sharp, Titan and my entire K9 Unit and their efforts.” states Edwards.
