Demco to change to CLECO for power needs

Demco members may see a change in their bills in the next few years.

Starting in 2014, Demco will get their power from CLECO. Demco is still in the eighth year of a 10 year contract with Louisiana Generating.

A spokesperson for Demco says it's an effort to save their members money, while providing a high level of service.

"It's just the next level of moving forward,” stated David Latona with Demco. “To save members money, we look for wholesale long term power contracts. So once again we're seeking a ten year power contract. "

Demco goes on to say CLECO offered the lowest rate. It's still too soon to tell if that'll mean lower energy bills in 2014.
