New Orleans, La — A contractor in New Orleans was hired to tear down an old building, but he decided it was better for the environment to move it. However, there was one problem - it weighed 280 tons.
They moved it anyway.
They lifted an old, two-story coast guard barracks onto eight remote-controlled, self-propelled dollies with 64 tires. Then, the barrack was put it on a barge and moved a few miles to an RV park in hopes of finding someone who wants it.
Contractor Warren Davie said, "I wouldn't say this is historical, but a lot of historicals were just torn down indiscriminately after the storm. I think we need to take a good hard look before we go and do that again."
The contractor says saving the building kept tons of waste from rotting in a landfill.
