Community leaders offer advice to new police chief
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Community members are quickly offering up some advice for newly-appointed Police Chief Carl Dabadie.
Pat McCallister-Leduff has lived in north Baton Rouge all her life.
As a founding member of the group Community Against Drugs and Violence, Leduff says what she really wants from the new chief is boots on the ground.
"We need to see them, other than when a shooting is going on,” stated Leduff. “I think that's what's going to help regain some respect that's been lost. We're looking for that to happen moving forward - to see them more engaged with communities."
Leduff says she's already seen the new chief out in the community. He says keeping officers engaged in with people is one of the best ways to keep the city safe.
