Cleanup continues at Pointe Coupee Parish oil spill site

POINTE COUPEE, LA (NBC33) — Cleanup is continuing at this hour on the 80,000 gallon oil spill in Pointe Coupee Parish.
A spokesperson tells NBC33 that 110 workers are cleaning the mess, and so far, they've picked up over 700 barrels of oil from the scene.
Workers have also found three dead barn swallow birds.
The crews are making good progress with the cleanup, and they're working to minimize the environmental impact.
The leak has been stopped, and officials are still working to determine how it all happened. The cleanup will continue for at least a few more days.
