High school students and local civic associations came out to clean up Historic Old South Baton Rouge.

"Learn not to throw stuff out of your car, or when your walking don't throw stuff in the street," said Historic Old South Baton Rouge Civic Association President Cynthia Jones. "Just keep it and wait till you get to a spot to put it in the trash. "

37 Volunteers picked up trash around Thomas Delpit Drive and Washington Street.

They collected everything from banana peels to coke cans and smoothie cups. It's all part of a national day of service by the CommuniTyler group. By the end of the event the volunteers picked up 70 garbage bags full of junk.
