BATON ROUGE, LA — The Baton Rouge Police Department is advising motorists heading downtown this weekend that there are multiple concurrent events scheduled, and they should arrive early and be prepared for possible traffic delays exiting Interstate 110.
“Most people coming downtown want to use the Government Street exit, which frequently backs up traffic on to the off-ramp and sometimes even the interstate itself,” said Chief Dewayne White. “We’d like to remind folks that there are several downtown exits and we would encourage them to consider using Convention Street, Florida Boulevard, North Street, and even Laurel Street if they’re southbound. Spreading the traffic out would greatly alleviate the delays.”
The biggest event, the Kiwanis Downtown Christmas Parade, is scheduled to start at 5:30pm and wind through the downtown area. Click here for more information about the parade.
