Geismar, La (NBC33) — Three people were sent to the hospital yesterday after a chemical release at the Westlake Chemical Plant in Geismar.

State police tell us there was a power failure, and after that, chemicals were somehow released into the air.

As a result, three workers were rushed to the hospital after they inhaled the chemicals. They will be ok.

Police say the threat is now under control.

This plant was closed for a month back in march after an explosion and fire caused $7 million worth of damage.
